Golf Instruction

JP Westbrook, the PGA Head Golf Professional at the Little Traverse Bay Golf Club, has been a PGA professional for close to 15 years and has always had a passion for instruction.
JP has had the opportunity to work with and create friendships with some of the world's best instructors like Mike Bender, Mac O'Grady, Todd Anderson, and short game guru Stan Utley. Through constant education and learning from others, JP has continued to sharpen his approach and methodology. The goal is to help golfers improve their golf game and mental state. This is all done to make it a fun game.
JP uses two models to explain swing variances on the pro level: centripedal (CP) and centrifugal (CF). Thirteen joints are used and measured during the swing: two hips, two elbows, two wrists, two knees, two ankles, and one spine. Getting these joints at the proper angles helps golfers create a more efficient and effortless motion. If these joints are in optimum position, a player can achieve great power in perfect balance with very little effort. This "model" swing is very quiet and effortless.
By focusing on physics, kinesiology, and the anatomy, JP works within a consistent method and the variables of each student. JP's understanding of the cause and effect of the swing enables him to help each student improve or reach a desired result, whether expert or beginner.
As a golf coach, JP likes to play golf with his students to see how they compete or perform on the playing field. He monitors breathing, strategy, physical fitness, nutrition and diet, and even mental training to help each student reach his/her full playing potential.
